Every new year comes with an opportunity to wipe off the slate and start a new chapter. Never has this been more the case however, than for 2021. With a global pandemic, economic stress and what seems bad news on top of bad news, 2020 has been a tough year all around which is why with this article we want to get a head start on 2021 with 12 resolutions that will help you reach a healthier, improved versions of yourself. Let’s get started on 12 healthy ideas for 2021.
1. Hydrate yourself often
By now, its public knowledge how important staying hydrated is for our bodily function, skin and general health. As a New Year’s Resolution for 2021, we want you take incorporate it into your daily routine and make it a part of your everyday. Get your water bottle and start getting those ounces in. How much water should you drink a day? It will certainly depend on your weight as well as activity level, but a good formula to use is: • Multiply your weight by 2/3 and get the ounces you should drink a day • Add 12 ounces to every 30 minutes of physical activity.
2. Have a skincare routine and stick to it
Skincare is a lifelong endeavor, so if you haven’t started yet, there is no time like the present to start. Be sure to include sunscreen and products that suit your skin type, daily activities and age. And to double up on self-care, make sure to include facials once in a while!
3. Volunteer!
Helping others is the ultimate double win. It elevates your mood while making an impact. Sometimes all we need is to take a look around our community and figure out ways to give back. So, take this new start to figure out a way to give back, particularly with this “new normal”.
4. Get physical
Do yoga, walk more, decide to take the stairs. Find whatever works for your routine, whatever you can stick to and do more of that. Physical activity is about consistency, so take the new year to set some goals and include movement in your day.

As part of the new you, make time to get a good night’s rest, 7 to 9 hours is essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
9. Practice mindful eating
We don’t want to call it a diet. This resolution is part of making a nutritional plan, practicing mindful eating and changing the way we think about food. Doing meal prep, cooking more at home and swapping unhealthy options for healthier ones while also giving yourself the acceptance to occasionally enjoy a treat, is the way to go beyond just a fad into a part of your lifestyle.
10. Do some gardening
Gardening became one of the most popular activities during the lockdown all over the world. Why? Being a plant owner has been found to lower stress levels and provide greater levels of satisfaction, connection and concentration. So if you were one of the people who didn’t start in 2020, we suggest taking up gardening in 2021!
11. Boost your immune system!
Most of the activities and habits suggested until this point are all ways to encourage a healthier lifestyle which in turn, will contribute to boost your immune system.
